I write this blog with heavy eye lids - I need more sleep!! I wouldn't say I've had a busy weekend, but I did get a lot done.
Friday was a fluke day in the Springs...we had 2 straight days of 65-70 degree weather and then BAM - an all day "blizzard" with several inches of snow. So needless to say, our plans to go out to dinner were put on hold when we passed a stopped car on the highway, then watched in my rearview mirror as another car slid right into them.
Saturday was a lot nicer outside, and we got a lot of chores done around town and just stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse for some window shopping. We got haircuts (I needed it BAD!) and even got some groceries. We had an early dinner at home and then went bar hopping downtown. It really was a great night!
Today was a great weather day, so while Justin went fishing, I got a few things done myself. I went to the dog park for an hour and earned 2 Activity Points! (Weight Watchers "gives" you points for exercise, much like eating food takes points "away"). Anyway, I was able to do the dishes and pick up the apartment and even take a little nap with Bailey. It was a great day!
The only bummer - I've had a sore throat since last Tuesday. It was really bad through Saturday, and finally started to let up. But, while there's no more "dagger" pain, it still hurts. That's the only thing wrong, no fever or aches or anything else. It's just because of the sudden, drastic weather changes. Could be worse though...at least it's almost gone!
So thanks for following my blog and checking in! Have a great week!

Out again...
I'm home again today for a full day feeling sick. My sore throat was worse than it was yesterday, and I felt like whatever I had moved "down" my throat and into my chest. It's been so long since the last time I was sick that it's hard to tell if I'm coming down with something or just having a "bad day".
So far I've wasted most of the morning by sleeping from 7 to 10:30 and now I'm just watching t.v. But I have every intention of having a healthy lunch (left over WW pizza from last night!) and taking some DayQuil. I need to be fine by tomorrow because I have to do a tour for work on a Saturday. Which now doesn't sound so bad because I had today "off"!

Weight Watchers update
I am glad to report that even though we have not had our first official weigh-in or meeting, since the informational meeting last Thursday, I have been making and eating Weight Watchers food all week!! And the best news is - - I've already lost a few pounds! (Weight Watchers rule - never say how much you've lost or how much you weigh, but just say that you've either lost or gained).
Now, it's hard for me to tell if it's just because weight tends to fluxuate day by day, so this could be a normal weight loss/gain for me, but if it is an official lost, then I'm very siked!!
We have our first official meeting next Thursday, where we get weighed in for the first time and set our goal weight. We also find out what our allotted points are for the day. So since I don't know what that number is yet, for me at least, I've just been picking out recepies that sound good and it seems to be working. So yay for me!
On a sad note, I've been waking up the past few days with a weird sore-throat thing, and then today, it started really bothering me and making my head feel "fuzzy". It's hard to explain, and I don't have a fever, but I left work early today to recooperate. I've felt fine for a while, but a few minutes ago, it all kinda got worse again. Who knows...I don't ever really get sick enough to get a fever. I'm the "half-way" sick person, who gets all the symptoms and then they all go away before fully manifesting. Normal people don't want to get sick, but I'm ok with getting a sick day once in a while - why not?

Verdict is in...

On another note, my sister and her family come into town on Saturday for a week surrounding Thanksgiving!
And on an upside - I think tonight is the first night in probably a month (I haven't kept an official count) that I CAN'T hear my downstairs neighbor's music and/or tv through the floor!!! Justin and I did spend 2 hours of the evening eating dinner and playing Uno Dominoes (confusing game, by the way!!), so I can't account for the hours between 6 and 8 pm, but it's 9, and *knock on wood* I haven't heard anything! However, when he and I left, for some reason the neighbor's child, who is probably 3-ish, was screaming and banging/kicking their front door. I couldn't tell if it was happy screaming or a temper tantrum, but either way - COME ON!!! Who lets their kid just scream and kick doors???!?!!!? If you have a house, I guess let the kid work it out. But they're in an APARTMENT!! So I guess even though this started off as a positive thing, it became a negative. I should stop doing that!

Since it's finally quiet for one night, I think I'll crack open my non-fiction book that I promised myself I would read and get through one more chapter!!

Sick or not sick?
So - I never get sick.
Seriously, in 3 years of working at my current job, I have only taken 2 sick days. And technically, I was only sick the first day. The second day I was sick for about the first hour, then I was fine. In fact, it's almost been a full year since I've been sick (click here for documented "proof"). So it's hard for me to tell when I'm getting sick, because it's so rare that I get sick, that I don't know what signs to look for! I don't know what my body is telling me!
This morning, I started having small dizzy spells when I was putting on my make-up. I shook it off as just my body waking up. However, when I got to work, it continued. Plus, I also started having a headache that came and went at random times, and when my head hurt, it made my stomach hurt. I just didn't feel normal. The only word I could use was "fuzzy".
It wore off as the day went on, thanks mostly to Ibuprofen, but after dinner, the "fuzzy" feeling came back. So I just don't totally feel right, but I don't think I'm sick. Or getting sick. But I might be? Who knows...I kinda hope so. Because then I can take a few paid days off from work without digging into my vacation time!
And to top it all off, I stubbed my pinky toe on a shoe (yes, a shoe!) and I think it's broken. I can't bend it and it hurts like hell to walk on. Poor me.

Where on earth???
I bet you're wondering...it's been almost 3 days and Karen hasn't posted!!! Like I mentioned on my last post, I don't get sick that often so it was hard for me to roll out of bed to get to my laptop, or to even bother bringing in to me (because I slept so much). It was amazing though... I never knew I loved sleeping that much!! There’s nothing much going on, other than my nose is sore from sneezing all week, and my chest and throat are burning from coughing.
Right now, I’m just watching the 1st Season of 30 Rock on DVD and obviously catching up on the blog world. If you haven’t seen 30 Rock, I recommend that almost as strongly as The Office. You need to watch a few episodes though, in order to fully “embrace” the characters and the story line.
I’m also watching my sweet puppy murder a rawhide bone (don’t worry – this brand doesn’t give him diarrhea). So, since there isn’t much to report in my world (except that my 25th bday is coming up), here’s an update on how Bailey’s doing!! Last I weighed him, he was 106 lbs! I’m taking him in tomorrow to get a more recent number.

Here's my "bathing beauty" posing for me:
As part of my morning routine I always dry my hair last. Over the past 9 months or so he has gotten so used to my routine, and when I leave. So one morning, as I was combing out my hair after drying it, I came out of the bathroom, and he had brought his rawhide with him into his cage! (I took it out before I left though...) He was ready for me to go to work and went in his cage all by himself! So sweet!
He's now gotten into the habit of sitting under the table everytime I sit down at it (which is usually when I'm blogging)

What do you know...I can get sick!

And it's finally happened! I woke up Monday morning with a fever of 101.7, a headache, and the chills. I've never even taken a sick day in over 2 years at the Broadmoor! That just shows you how rare it is that I get sick. And it usually doesn't last that long!
But...I woke up again with a sore throat and a fever of 100.7, so I knew I'd need to stay home and rest. If I went in, I'm sure I would have given whatever I have to someone else or would have gotten worse. So today is my "recovery" day. I've had some NyQuil, so I'm off to get some sleep! Bailey is enjoying my company I think...and he's totally loving sleeping with me!

And for some reason, I am TOTALLY craving a Big Mac!!
