Success!

First of all, let me share an adorable picture - When I come home for lunch during the week, I let the dogs out and let them sun themselves by the front door. They LOVE it!! And today, they all piled up by the front door and cuddled. SOO CUTE!!!

And...I've already had success on my resolutions!!
So far, I've already changed my blog design from the "Fall" theme to something far more relevant to me - sparkles!
And, I've already done my allotted "one page a month" of scrapbooking!! I have taken a picture for proof:
Not my best work, but I've been out of practice for a while. Whew...that really took it out of me!

WeimFest2010!!

Normally, whenever I go somewhere and there are more than 2 other Weimaraners, I make up some crazy name like "Weim-a-palooza" - but I'm not kidding ---- I went to WeimFest2010 today!!!! It was put on by the Mile High Weimaraner Rescue group, and was totally free! So I drove about 1 1/2 hours with Bailey and my parent's Weim Baxter and we had a BLAST!!! I was in Weimaraner heaven!! I imagine that today is what heaven will be like, at least for me. :-)

So, enjoy some of the great shots I got today of the Weims from all over! I would do it again in a heartbeat! (Except maybe I would remember sunscreen - ouch.)

Weekend Update

So I had a great weekend. I didn't really do anything, but I still feel like I had a productive weekend. Justin was going fishing early Saturday morning, so I had all day to myself with the 3 dogs. I mostly kept them entertained around the house, and they alternated chasing each other with taking a 2 hour nap. Easy enough. I stayed over at the house with the dogs since he would be getting up t 5:30 am. No thank you.

Turns out the water was about 15 degrees and they didn't bring their "cold gear", so they didn't go fishing, but Justin had every intention of going on Sunday, so I knew I'd have another day all to myself. I ended Saturday night watching tv in my parent's basement with the dogs and staying there again. When I say "with the dogs", I mean that I watched tv and they did this:

So cute!! So Sunday morning was a nice, quiet morning at the house spending some fun time with the dogs. I wanted to pick up the house since my parents were coming home tonight. And I also had a weird urge to make some cookies from scratch! I'm a regular Martha Stewart these days! Homemade Chicken Divan, stirfry twice last week, onion rings from scratch, and cookies...I'm on a roll!!

Of course the dogs were right there with me, but they weren't doing what you might expect - no begging for food, just sleeping.

I think Bailey and Baxter really "bonded" this week - Cody was at the vet during the week so he could be let out several times a day, so I only had Baxter at night. He stayed at the apartment each night, and somehow both of them ended up in bed with me when I woke up in the morning! They love cuddling...Best buds!!

Had to share this one of Cody - he was chewing on this toy, and fell asleep mid-chew!

And even though I hadn't really done anything strenuous today, I was still feeling too tired to cook, but didn't want to take the easy way out and get pizza. And I wanted something easy. So I made my first Weight Watchers meal!
It's a chicken wrap with some Asian sauce to give it taste, but not a lot of calories. And it was really good, and surprisingly filling. I had it around 6:30, and it's now 10:15, and I'm not hungry. That's unusual for me, since this late is when I normally start getting snack cravings. I think I can really do this!!

So the Weight Watchers meetings start on Thursday, and those meetings will help me hold my eating habits accountable. It's so easy when you do things like diet alone to reason or rationalize why you can have one more serving, one more bite, one more cookie. But when you have to write it down or share it honestly with someone, it makes it a tiny bit easier to put the fork down! I'm actually sitting next to a big box of the cookies I made, and part of my mind is saying "Oh those were so good, I should just have one or two for that really good taste". But the other part of my mind, the one that's now developing a friendship with my stomach/hunger is saying "but you're not hungry. Why have a cookie?"
And I actually feel very good about not having a cookie. Makes me proud of myself. It may sound small, but it's a big step for me. And I haven't even started the program yet!! I'm feeling good about this....check back for updates!

More puppy love

Even though he's not mine, I just can't get enough! And...he finally has a name!!

CODY!!!

Here's Bailey playing with him at my parent's house - he was so sweet and actually brought Cody toys!

And in typical Weim fashion (those who own one know what I'm talking about), he's already sitting like a person at 3 months!!
I puppy-sat for my parents on Sunday night while they went out for dinner. They didn't want him to sleep the entire time they were gone, so it was my job to keep him awake for 2 hours straight so he would sleep the whole night. It worked! My parents even brought him over with his toys to keep him occupied...they bought him little plastic keys, like what you get for babies!
Bailey wasn't too sure about Cody being in his "territory" - my apartment, but he did play with him occasionally. I swear he isn't being mean in this shot...

Bailey checked Cody out everytime he came near him - here he is deeming if Cody is worthy of sharing his water bowl.

Cody did have one accident inside, but I caught it as it was coming out so after shouting "NO" and immeadiately picking him up and running outside, he was fine the rest of the night. I hope he got the point!

Newest Creveling addition!

First off, let me clarify - he is not mine!

He's 2 1/2 months old, about 12 pounds, and has yet to be named!

Yesterday, my parents called me at work and told me that they were at the mall and they had 4 Weimaraner puppies at the pet store! They have one already, and we're all just suckers for Weims. I told my mom I would just have to drive by after work and play with them to get my puppy fix.

Well about 20 minutes later, my dad called back and wanted to know if I would be at work for much longer because they wanted to come by and introduce me to someone. Oh boy...my boss is listening in on this conversation and as I slowly (and loudly) realize that they bought one of the puppies, she's waving at me like "HAVE THEM COME IN HERE...BRING THE PUPPY HERE!" We're a dog-crazy office for sure!

So they arrived and he was freaking adorable, of course, and it took 30 minutes to get around all areas of the office with all of the women swooning. And I think I really scared Justin when I walked around to his cubicle with a puppy in my arms!

They haven't named him yet, but it's only been about 24 hours, so cut them some slack!! I will definitely keep the blogging world (those of you who read this) up to date on the little man!!

I want another one. Don't get me wrong - I LOOOOVE Bailey! But I'm itching for a puppy!!!

101 Dog Tricks

And don't think I won't be trying most of them!

I went to Borders tonight to help Justin pick out a birthday present for his boss, and ended up in the dogs section. We naturally look for anything that has a Weimaraner on the front and find this great book:

I can't wait to start training Bailey to do all these really cool things!! The book shows you how to do common things like sit, stay, come, roll over. But it also gets creative. Like...

Take a Bow...

Jump Rope...

And finally, Waving Goodbye!

Weim-a-Palooza

Normally I would put this on Bailey's blog (which can be found by clicking here), but I had such a great time, and technically it was a day in my life as well. Enjoy our afternoon at the dog park!

Today was a day of Weims! Normally I can go a few weeks without seeing other Weims at the park, but sometimes when it rains, it pours! Today we saw at least 6 other Weims, and I just happened to have my camera, so I got some pretty memorable moments on film!

So I take out my camera for my first shot, and Bailey knew exactly what it was!

We first ran into 2 young ladies (1 was about 2 years old and the other was around 7) who Bailey wanted to check out. Of course he basically dwarfed them - and their owner was so surprised to see a Weim so big that he took out his camera to film Bailey!!

Everytime we go, Bailey always abandons me and finds alternative "mommys" to adopt him. Whether they want to or not. Here he is with his first choice of a new "mommy" - playing with his favorite thing...a stick.

So if that wasn't enough, Bailey spots a poor, innocent child who was collecting sticks and decides, hey! I want that big one! So he steals it from him. After the kid finally stops freaking out because Bailey is about 80 lbs bigger than him, Bailey takes over. (that's the kid in the background. He really wanted his stick back!)

Once he steals the stick, a Golden Retriever in the area approached and starting playing Bailey's 2 all time favorite games - Keep Away, and then when you finally get a hold of the stick, Tug of War. It was so adorable!!!

Then after he got a few laughs from other dog owners, some more Weims showed up! This time we got to see a "Blue" one! Here he is with more of his new friends, both human and canine! You can see him with his second adopted "mommy".

And then we make it home after a few more errands, and this is how he spent the rest of his afternoon...

He's living the life, isn't he? :-)

Weimaraner Addict Login "Issues"

Anyone out there who's a fellow "Weimaraner Addict" who is experiencing a weird new pop up, prompting you to login before it allows you to go to the page?

It's kinda ticking me off...

Property Laws

I definately feel I should blog more about myself...work, boyfriend, fun activities. So I definately intend to start sharing all that. But, Bailey is a pretty big part of my life, so that's pretty much what a Day in "My Life" might be like. Watching him do silly things. :) So not to add another blog about Weims (or Bailey), but I wanted to share this!

Stay posted for more "non-dog friendly" posts. :-)

What Are The Odds?

So I decide to take Bailey to a smaller, less frequented dog park, about a block from my apartment this weekend. This one is a significantly smaller fenced in park, that doesn’t have any bells or whistles, and because of that, it’s not usually very busy. But Bailey can run “free” without me having to worry about him running away, and at 103 pounds, that’s a plus.

We went on Saturday, roughly around lunchtime. So I’m there for only 5-10 minutes, and off in the distance, I see a couple walking towards the park. They just “happened” to have a Blue Weimaraner with them!! What are the odds of choosing to go to the park when I did, and run into another Weimaraner, and on top of that, one with a very rare color!!! (This pic I found online shows how dark the coat is. The regular coat is on the left, and the Blue is on the right. It has more of a “blue” hue if you happen to see one in person). If you compare it to a pic of Bailey I’ve posted, Weims are usually a brownish or silverish gray.

I left that day thinking, “How cool was that? I NEVER see Weims at the dog park!”. It was such a nice weekend actually, so I thought I’d take Bailey back around the same time on Sunday. As I’m walking up, I see a few dogs running around, and I’m pleased that Bailey will again have someone to play with. And all of a sudden, there’s another Weim! And it was a different one than the one I saw Saturday! Now, what are the odds of that?! I hardly ever see Weims, and to see 2 different ones in 1 weekend??!!!? Pretty cool, and definitely a high point of my weekend.

Other than that, I spent Friday night playing hours worth of Guitar Hero World Tour on Justin’s Wii. I know, I can see everyone grasping their hands to their chests with their jaws dropped. Me? Playing Guitar Hero?? It’s actually more fun than I thought! I’m only on the Easy level, and I play the Bass part, so I’m no expert yet. Justin plays the lead guitar usually, and I have to say he’s definitely better than me. But then again, he has been playing longer than I have. We ended up playing some more on Sunday as well. We’ve even started a band! It’s pretty freakin’ addicting, I’ll have to admit.

And then Sunday was spent watching the playoffs, and enjoying homemade chili, in my very own Crock Pot! We got big loaves of bread from the grocery store, cut out a chunk from the middle, and then went to town enjoying our Chili Bread Bowls! I’ll be eating leftover chili for a week! Yummy!

Weimaraners

Please forgive me, but I had to share this with you. I have a feeling that if we had all watched this together for the first time, it would be one of those situations where we all made ourselves laugh harder.

Love you!
